Inner Berlin

Inner Berlin

A documentary series on urban life, unheard thoughts and the city in between.

Berlin is always moving. But if you stop- really stop- and watch, something else becomes visible. The thought behind the gaze. The citiy beneath the city.

Inner Berlin is an ongoing documentary series by Leyla Dirim, filmed at street level in Berlin’s public spaces. Static camera. Ambient sound. No music. And text — in different languages — layered over the people in the frame: imagined thoughts, intimate and universal at once.

The series sits at the intersection of street photography, documentary film, and urban observation. Each episode is a self-contained moment. Together, they form a portrait of a city in motion — and the inner lives it carries.
